The legendary Chinese methods for guessing the gender of a fetus and for influencing a baby’s gender are based on a simple table, with twelve columns and twenty-eight rows. This table is referred to in many different ways.
Words Included in the Table’s Names
All the names of this ancient table are formed with at least two or three words. I display below the list of these words. For each of these words, I included a short explanation why that word is used to identify this old chart.
As indicated by a legend, this table dates from the 13th century and it was created by some Chinese scientists, who studied a map of the Universe and the statistics they had about the genders, the birthdates and the conception dates of the persons. Moreover, all the lines of this chart – columns and rows – refer to the Chinese lunar calendar: the twelve columns correspond to the twelve lunar months, while the twenty-eight rows correspond to the lunar ages from 18 to 45, inclusively.
